The Normandie variety is a historical cultivar of Hydrangea macrophylla, with references recorded in literature from 1936. The breeding of the variety is associated with the name of the French specialist Henri Cayeux. The plant was used as a parent component in the development of other hydrangea hybrids.

In descriptions from old catalogs, the variety is characterized by the presence of large yellow inflorescences. Due to its belonging to older breeding, modern standardized agronomic characteristics, such as precise height parameters or resistance indices, are practically not presented in publications.
