The variety «Kyuikukan 1» (or «Kyuikukan 1 gou») is a specialized ornamental form of sweet potato. The plant breeding was focused on appearance characteristics, specifically on leaf color and bush growth habit.

In scientific research, the variety is used as an object for studying the chemical composition of leaves, in particular the content of caffeic and chlorogenic acids, in comparison with other Japanese sweet potato varieties.
