The Apollo variety is a bulbous plant with flower stems 50–60 cm tall. The flowers, 10–15 cm in diameter, have a bicolored appearance: the upper petals (standards) are white with a bluish tint, and the lower petals (falls) are soft yellow with a bright yellow spot and an orange stripe. The leaves are narrow, lanceolate, and dark green in color.
The plant is an early-flowering variety with a blooming period from April to June. The variety is suitable for forcing and cutting, as well as for landscaping flower beds and rock gardens. It possesses cold hardiness up to USDA zone 4a, but requires well-drained soil due to the bulbs' sensitivity to excess moisture.
