Abago belongs to the butterhead lettuce type. The plant forms large heads with dense leaves, which makes it convenient for harvesting and subsequent processing.
The variety has resistance to downy mildew (Bremia lactucae, races Bl: 16–31), currant-lettuce aphid (Nasonovia ribisnigri, Nr: 0), lettuce mosaic virus (LMV: 1), and tipburn.
The crop can be grown both in open field conditions and under protected cultivation, including hydroponic systems and floating raft methods.
