The Besma variety forms a head that is close to the Estival variety in its morphological characteristics. One of the plant's key features is the presence of genetic resistance to the lettuce aphid species Nasonovia ribisnigri.
The plant demonstrates good adaptation to high temperatures, which prevents the occurrence of leaf tip burn and premature bolting. Open sources mention that the cultivation of this variety is practiced, in particular, on the Cap Bon peninsula in Tunisia.
