The Elenas variety belongs to the Iceberg (crisphead) group. The plant forms dense, well-filled heads of a flattened-spherical shape and is characterized by a rapid growth rate. The leaves are crisp, typical for this variety type.
The variety possesses resistance to lettuce aphid (Nasonovia ribisnigri), powdery mildew, downy mildew (Bremia lactucae), and tipburn. It is used in breeding practice as a parental line and in scientific research as a reference variety of the Iceberg type.
