Ljubljanska ledenka is a local population variety, genetically heterogeneous and represented by various genotypes. The period from germination to maturity is about 60–65 days. The plant forms large, dense, round heads with a weight of 220–240 g and a diameter of 12–13 cm. The leaves are bright green, glossy, with a serrated edge and pronounced crispy veins.
The variety is characterized as heat-tolerant and slow to bolt. Due to the variety's nature as a folk selection form, morphological traits may vary, including the density of head closure or the presence of a reddish tint on the edges of the leaves. The variety shows varying degrees of resistance to downy mildew.
The recommended planting scheme is 30 × 30 cm. The lettuce is intended for fresh consumption and is suitable for summer-autumn cultivation on cultivated, moistened soils.
