The variety Tamburo belongs to the Little Gem type of mini-lettuce. Compared to similar varieties of this type, the plant has a taller growth habit and an intense dark leaf color. The growth rate is slow, while the plant is able to maintain its marketability in field conditions for a long time.
The plant possesses high resistance to downy mildew races Bl: 1–16, 21 and 23, as well as improved resistance to marginal leaf burn. The variety is often used in scientific research as a model object for studying the interaction of leafy vegetables with pathogenic microorganisms.
