The variety belongs to the crisphead lettuce type. Trials from the late 1980s indicate that this variety is characterized by a lower tendency to premature bolting compared to some other varieties of that period.
The variety was used as a parental line in crossing to obtain resistance to California pathotypes of powdery mildew. In commercial vegetable production, the variety was targeted at spring growing cycle programs.
