The variety is a perennial subshrub possessing a more vigorous habit compared to Lavandula angustifolia. According to international classification systems, the number of flowers in the apical whorl is classified as high.

The variety is used as raw material for essential oil production in the aromatic and essential oil industry, and is also applied in professional horticulture. The lavandin of this variety is valued for a higher essential oil yield than that of Lavandula angustifolia.
