The plant is delicate and fragile, unable to stand on its own. In agronomic practice, it is traditionally sown in a mixture with rye, which acts as a support. The variety prefers light, well-drained, and often calcareous soils.
The grains are small, flattened in shape, and less than 4 mm in diameter. The outer coat is brownish in color, and the inner cotyledons have a pinkish or salmon-orange hue. The product contains plant-based protein, iron, calcium, and dietary fiber.
The variety is used in culinary applications, pairs well with meat and fish dishes, and is also suitable for salads.
