Plant stems reach a height of 20–30 cm, in some cases up to 40 cm. The foliage is narrow, lanceolate, covered with silvery pubescence. The inflorescences are star-shaped structures of silvery-white bracts 5–6 cm in diameter, surrounding small yellowish-white tubular flowers.
The plant is frost-resistant and drought-tolerant, preferring sunny locations and well-drained, preferably calcareous soils. The flowering period occurs in June–July, with a characteristic ability to rebloom in early autumn. Due to its sturdy stems, it is used as a cut flower crop.
