The name Blue Birds refers to the Sun Birds series of hybrids, which includes trade names such as Giant Blue Birds and Mystic Blue Birds. The varieties in this series are intended for professional cut flower cultivation.

The plants are characterized by heavy, strong stems, with heights reaching 75–95 cm in the Giant Blue Birds variety. Hybrids of this series are distinguished by long vase life, increased resistance to Botrytis, and flowering periods ranging from early to mid-late.
