The variety belongs to the fiber flax group grown for fiber production. Research conducted during the 1982–1985 period determined the average fiber content in the stems of this variety to be at the 17.7% level. The variety was obtained by the pedigree breeding method and included in the lists of varieties recommended for cultivation.
The plant performs most effectively in regions with a cool and humid climate, such as coastal and foothill areas. In agronomic publications, the variety is used as a control standard when evaluating genetic resources and economically valuable traits of flax.
