The variety Solon (also known by the laboratory number E1747) is a mutant obtained as a result of treating seeds of the McGregor variety with ethyl methanesulfonate. The main feature of the genotype is its specific oil composition, namely a reduced concentration of linolenic acid.

Due to its biological characteristics, this variety is used primarily in scientific research in the fields of genetics and flax breeding. Detailed agronomic characteristics, such as maturity group, stem height, or disease resistance, are not presented in open sources.
