The plant is an ornamental perennial evergreen subshrub with prostrate or ascending stems. The bush height is usually 20–35 cm, reaching a maximum of 40 cm.

The variety is used for landscaping rock gardens, rockeries, and creating border compositions. The plant is valued for its ornamental foliage and blue or purple flowers; it prefers sunny areas with well-drained acidic soils.
