The Activa variety is used in agriculture for the establishment of pastures and hayfields. In grass mixtures, it is also used as a green manure crop to improve soil structure.

The plant is represented in a tetraploid form, forming a dense sward with a developed root system. The variety possesses the ability to suppress the reproduction of nematodes of the genus Meloidogyne chitwoodi, which allows it to be used for pest control in crop rotations.
