The variety was bred through the selection of local ecotypes and for a long time was included in official lists of recommended forage grasses in Switzerland. It possessed high competitiveness compared to other varieties of its time and served as base material for subsequent breeding work.

In modern scientific literature, the variety is considered primarily in the context of breeding history, population genetics, and the study of sward persistence.
