The variety is tetraploid (4n) and was obtained through breeding from Swiss ecotypes using colchicine treatment. The crop is characterized by very early heading, outpacing other early varieties in this indicator.
The plant is distinguished by strong juvenile development and high competitiveness within grass communities. Breeding work with the variety has allowed for improved resistance to rust and snow mold, due to which it is used for research purposes in studying grass productivity.
