The Astonchieftain variety is a diploid forage variety. It belongs to the late-maturing group and is characterized by good productivity both under grazing and forage harvesting, including a high first-cut yield.
The plant is intended for inclusion in long-term and medium-term grass mixtures. It provides a dense sward resistant to intensive use. Morphologically, it is a loose-bunch grass.
