The variety is tetraploid. Tetraploid forms of perennial ryegrass are characterized by an increased size of seeds and vegetative organs, and also possess high growth energy and nutritional value.

The plant is used as a component of forage grass mixtures intended for grazing and haymaking use, including in combination with white clover to increase dry matter yield.
