The Borvi variety belongs to diploid forms of perennial ryegrass. During breeding trials conducted before the early 2000s, this variety was classified as a medium or medium-late maturity crop.

In agronomic practice, the variety was often used as a standard for evaluating dry matter productivity in comparative field experiments. Currently, detailed characteristics of resistance to diseases or lodging are not publicly available due to the exclusion of the variety from official lists.
