Variety description

10 August 2026

The Bronsyn variety was developed in the 1990s and is based on genetic material from the New Zealand Mangere ecotype. It has become widely used as a parent component in breeding programs for creating new generations of ryegrass.

The plant is of the diploid type and is intended for use as a forage crop in the establishment of dairy and beef pastures. The variety is characterized by high dry matter yield and good forage quality.

To increase pasture survival, the variety is often grown in combination with various endophyte strains, such as AR1, NEA2, and NEA6. Such symbiosis provides the plants with protection against insect pests, including root aphids.
