The Houba variety was mentioned in agricultural publications of the mid-20th century, specifically in the Dutch descriptive lists of varieties of 1968. In the literature of that period, it was classified as a very early hay type.

In comparative studies of the 1960s–70s, the variety was considered in the context of analyzing dry matter yield and crude protein content. Current modern agrotechnical characteristics of the variety, such as disease resistance indices or plant height, are absent in open sources.
