The variety is tetraploid and characterized as medium-late or late in spring growth, as well as late in the heading stage. The plant has a long stem and is noted for high persistence, maintaining productivity in the sward over several years of use.

The variety is used in agriculture as a forage crop for establishing pastures and hayfields, including in mixtures with Trifolium repens. The variety is also used as reference material in genetic research and studies on resistance to the rust Puccinia coronata.
