The Masai variety is classified as a diploid or tetraploid perennial ryegrass. It is characterized by high nutritional value of forage, which is confirmed by studies of cell wall digestibility, and also possesses good persistence and longevity in sward composition.

The plant is intended for pasture use and is successfully applied in agricultural grass mixtures, including in combination with other grasses and white clover.
