The variety was obtained through the selection of populations originating from Allsport plants and wild ryegrass populations, followed by improvement involving the varieties Slugger, Allsport 2, Playoff, and Applaud. The plant is characterized by an intermediate growth habit and pronounced tillering.
The variety is distinguished by a very dark green leaf color and improved resistance to stem rust. Selection was aimed at increasing turf density and the ability to form ears. The variety is intended for lawn use and is not considered a forage crop.
