The variety Pontiac belongs to lawn types of perennial ryegrass. It is widely used in grass mixtures for creating sports turfs capable of withstanding mowing at a height of 25 mm, and ornamental turfs.

The variety possesses pronounced indicators of shoot density and recovery capacity. It is used as a reference variety in CPVO documentation for describing morphological traits, such as glume size.
