The variety is a bunchgrass, bred within a program to improve ryegrass for northern climatic conditions using genetic material from old turf areas in Minnesota. Intended primarily for creating lawns and sports fields.
The plant is characterized by good winter hardiness, which was a key goal of the breeding program. The variety is a low-growing type, does not possess shade tolerance, and shows weak resistance to leaf spot.
In various trials, turf quality was rated from low to moderate.
