The variety belongs to the historical category and was obtained on the basis of local ecotypes. Due to the origin of its name, it is mentioned in agronomic literature in relation to several grass species, including perennial ryegrass, Italian ryegrass, meadow fescue, and tall fescue.
In breeding work, the variety was used as a diploid source material for the creation of new polyploid varieties of ryegrass and Festulolium. As an independent forage crop, the variety is considered obsolete and is inferior to modern tetraploid varieties in terms of green mass yield and crude protein content.
