The variety is a loose-bunching perennial grass of the turf type. It differs from forage forms by a narrower leaf blade, the ability to tolerate low mowing, and moderate height growth.

The plant is widely used in seed mixtures for sports grounds, golf courses, parks, and recreational areas, and is also used for overseeding. The variety has complex resistance to diseases and pests; however, like the species as a whole, it is demanding of climatic conditions and may be short-lived during severe snowless winters.
