The Zenital variety is a diploid (2n) form of perennial ryegrass. During the agricultural evaluation, plants are assessed by parameters such as dry matter yield in the first and subsequent cuts, winter hardiness, and heading speed.
The plant possesses increased resistance to trampling, which is typical for diploid forms of this crop, and also exhibits resistance to crown rust (Puccinia coronata) infection.
