A compact, climbing semi-evergreen vine reaching a height of 1.5 to 4 meters. The leaves are broad-elliptic to ovate in shape and colored from medium green to glaucous green.

The flowers are tubular and fragrant, white upon opening, and acquire a creamy yellow hue over time. The fruits are black berries, which are poisonous.

The flowering period is prolonged, covering the time from May to October and usually occurring in two waves. The plant is characterized as quite winter-hardy and is intended for ornamental gardening, in particular for greening trellises, pergolas, and walls.
