The BRUENNERLING GROSSER variety, also known as Oberösterreichischer Brünnerling, is a historic local variety. It is genetically related to the Welschisner variety. The tree is characterized by healthy and vigorous growth.
The fruits are medium to large in size, with a round or blunt-conical shape. The ground color of the skin is yellow-green, the overcolor varies from pink to light red with bluish-red shades. The flesh is firm, the taste is wine-sour with moderate sweetness and weak aroma.
The variety belongs to the winter group; the storage period of the fruits continues until March or April. It is used primarily as a culinary apple, suitable for cooking and the production of juice or cider.
