The ornamental form is a deciduous small tree or large shrub 4–5 m in height and 6–7 m in width. Upon unfolding, the leaves have a reddish-bronze hue, which darkens over time to dark green with purple. The plant blooms with large deep pink or purple-red flowers.

The fruits are very small, 1–1.5 cm in size, dark red in color, and remain on the branches for a long time. The variety is characterized by high resistance to scab, powdery mildew, rust, and fire blight. Frost resistance corresponds to USDA zone 5.

In literature, the name may also appear as a historical synonym for old fruit apple varieties or be mistakenly attributed to other crops, which makes searching for an actual table variety with this name unproductive.
