The variety is a chance seedling discovered on the island of Finkenwerder in Germany. The tree reaches 3–6 meters in height and performs best as a standard tree. The variety is characterized by being undemanding, wind-resistant, and capable of growing in heavy soils.

The fruits are medium to large in size, with greenish-yellow skin and red stripes, having a pronounced conical shape with ribs near the calyx. The flesh is yellowish-white, firm and juicy, and possesses a sweet-sour, aromatic and tart taste. The consumption period lasts from October to March; the fruits have good keeping quality.

The variety is versatile and suitable both for fresh consumption and for culinary processing, including the production of juices and brandy. A high content of polyphenols is noted in the fruits compared to modern varieties.
