The variety is rare and included in regional genetic resource registers as an object of biodiversity conservation. It is also known by the names Mela rugginosa, Raggiata or Roggia.
The fruits mature by October and belong to autumn varieties. Historically, plants were trained in a vase shape. The variety is characterized by susceptibility to diseases and pests, particularly the codling moth (Cydia pomonella).
The name Ruzza can be used to designate various local varieties, including pears, therefore, specification of the species is required.
