The variety is a local historical type widespread in Germany. In specialized databases, it is sometimes associated with the Alantapfel variety, however, literature indicates they are not identical.

The fruits of the variety ripen and are ready for consumption from October to February. The variety has the status of a collection object aimed at preserving biodiversity, while detailed morphological descriptions and information on disease resistance are absent in the sources.
