The Viale Casetta variety is an ancient local genetic resource originating from the province of Siena. It is included in Italian agricultural biodiversity registries as an object subject to conservation and protection.

Studies of the biochemical composition of the fruit note high levels of antioxidant activity and a significant concentration of free glucose. The xylitol content in the fruit is high, while the level of pectins is relatively low compared to a number of other local varieties.

Detailed agronomic characteristics, including plant height, disease resistance, and maturity dates, are not described in scientific publications. The main focus in the sources is on the genetic identification and nutritional value assessment of the variety.
