Variety description

The variety is a hybrid between Medicago sativa and Medicago falcata. It is characterized by cold adaptation, in which the plant redistributes biomass to the root system in response to temperature drops.

In field trials in northern latitudes, the variety shows competitive dry matter yield. Frost resistance is due to a high level of non-structural carbohydrates and low starch content in the tissues. Success in cultivation depends on seed inoculation with specific strains of Rhizobium meliloti bacteria.
