Algonquin possesses high winter hardiness, resistance to lodging, and bacterial wilt. The forage mass is characterized by a high content of protein, vitamins, and minerals. The variety is demanding of soil, preferring calcareous substrates with a pH level above 6.2, at a seeding rate of 25–30 kg/ha.
