The variety was obtained through the efforts of the Mississippi Agricultural Experiment Station and the USDA. Plants for breeding were selected from those that survived in old crops in the Mississippi River Delta.
This variety is historical. In available publications, information about it is limited to data from yield comparison tables; current morphological descriptions are virtually absent.
