The alfalfa variety "Elena", bred by Bottos Sementi S.R.L., is mentioned in a number of national plant variety registers of Balkan countries. The variety serves as an object in scientific experiments, in particular when studying the effect of alfalfa root extracts on other crops and assessing the attractiveness of forage plants to insects.
