The variety belongs to the Dupnitsa ecotype and has a genetic link to Nicotiana debneyi. It is an oriental-type tobacco characterized by a relatively low nicotine content, leaf thinness and high aromatic properties, which allows its use in cigarette production.

In agronomic studies, the variety often acts as a high-quality standard for comparison with new breeding lines. The plant possesses full resistance to black shank (Phytophthora parasitica var. nicotianae) infection.
