The variety was created based on the Burley 21 variety by the method of genetic modification using Agrobacterium tumefaciens. An antisense gene is integrated into the genome, blocking the function of the enzyme quinolinate phosphoribosyltransferase, which interrupts nicotine biosynthesis.

Plants have a conical shape, sessile narrowly elliptical leaves of light green color with a whitish-green midrib, moderate blistering, and wavy margins. The inflorescence is double-cone shaped; flowers have a pink corolla. The variety matures later than the source type and is characterized by a weak tendency for sucker formation.

The variety demonstrates susceptibility to diseases and pests characteristic of traditional varieties. The nicotine level is less than 10% of the content in conventional varieties.
