Plants of this variety type typically reach a height of 1.8–2.1 meters and form large oval or elongated leaves 35 to 75 cm in length. The number of leaves per stem averages 18–25, and maturity ranges from mid-season to mid-late.

The chemical composition of the tobacco is characterized by a sugar content of up to 20–40% with a nicotine level of 1–3.5%. The traditional processing method is flue-curing with hot air in enclosed structures, which allows the sugars to caramelize and gives the raw material a golden color and a sweetish taste.

The variety type is considered relatively undemanding and possesses resistance to a number of diseases. The product is used in the manufacture of cigarettes, pipe tobacco, roll-your-own and hookah blends, and can also be consumed in pure form.
