Variety O 9-18, also known as O 9-18/2, belongs to the semi-oriental tobacco type. It is widely used as an additional component in cigarette blends and serves as a standard sample in scientific work when comparing with new breeding lines.

Morphologically, the variety is distinguished by developed mid-tier leaves, the average length of which is about 32.5–33 cm. The quality characteristics of this type include a low central leaf vein content and a high technological yield of raw materials.
