The VRG2 variety was bred using resistance genes from the wild species Nicotiana debneyi and the Canadian line AC Gayed. It belongs to the Virginia-type tobacco group and is adapted to the climatic conditions of Poland.

The plant possesses marked resistance to black root rot (Berkeleyomyces spp.) and potato virus Y (PVY). The variety is characterized as medium-high yielding and is close in its characteristics to the Wiślica variety.
