The Bombita (or Bombeta) variety is a traditional local rice variety adapted to the conditions of the island of Mallorca. It belongs to the Japonica subspecies and is a short-grain rice with small, rounded grains and a smooth surface.
The grain is distinguished by high density and culinary stability: during the cooking process, it absorbs a large amount of broth without overcooking and retains a loose structure. It is used primarily for preparing traditional regional dishes such as paella and arròs brut.
