The variety is a tall plant reaching about 110 cm in height. A distinctive morphological feature is the presence of awns on the spikelets, and the grain itself is characterized as large. The variety is considered obsolete and is grown primarily in niche farms.
Due to the great height of the stem, the variety is prone to lodging, which requires the creation of protective barriers. Historically, the variety showed vulnerability to the fungal disease rice blast (brusone), however, in modern studies it demonstrates no significant reduction in germination when exposed to the pathogen Fusarium fujikuroi.
